can I use Silicone socks on my MK3s hotend 

once in a while I get a glob in a print

Sure. It's a V6 hot-end. You can find the official socks here.

Sure you can. But if that happens frequently — and if you begin to think about using a sock, I assume it does — I’d try to identify the root cause (eg leaking filament etc).

If you're getting a glob in the print there's another problem and a sock won't fix it.  You many need to check your extrusion rate, the assembly of your hot end, or the age of your filament.

Having said that there are reasons to put a sock on your Prusa I3, I added one on mine when I was having problems with my part cooling fan cooling the hot end.

If you do add a sock be sure and perform PID tuning as it will change the heating and cooling characteristics of your hot end.  Prusa has the procedure here https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/pid-tuning_2265
