PrusaSlic3r on 32-bit Windows

Hi All

Complete newbie here. I'm trying to set up Prusa Slic3r while I am waiting for my PrusaMINI to arrive in about a month.

I run an archaic set up - Windows 7 32-bit. I've been able to run a 32-bit version of Slic3r previously, but when I try to run Prusa Slic3r the program shuts itself down (i.e. displays the 'this program has stopped working' window) when I click on the button to slice a model.

Is there a version I could get to work on an older computer? If not I will have to consider trying to get decent results out of 32-bit Slic3r, or you know, do something about the computer itself.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Cheers

Richard

RE: PrusaSlic3r on 32-bit Windows

Once upon a time the video display was an issue for compatibility. Some had to set a command line option to enable software rendering over hardware rendering: especially with Notebooks with older Intel GPU  drivers that didn't support the latest OpenGL.

@neophyl had this is a post way back when:

Sorry I got the example for starting the software render wrong earlier it should be

"C:\Program Files\Prusa3D\PrusaSlicer\prusa-slicer.exe" --sw-renderer --loglevel=5

with the switch outside the link to the exe.  The log level is for capturing more info if it does have problems that can then be passed on to the devs via github.  I found an earlier thread where users were having issues and that startup link is from one of the developers.
