false positives homing x axis

Hi,

The end-stop detection on the x axis has started reporting false positives. IE, when homing, the print head will not travel all the way to the edge of the print volume and the firmware will set 0 as somewhere random along the axis. Even worse, this can happen mid-way through a print and from this point on the whole print will be offset by some amount.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Hard to know what to check with the sensorless homing system.

Thanks,

A

RE: false positives homing x axis

Sounds like it's binding up somewhere. With the machine off, see if you can move the head back and forth smoothly by hand and if it seems rough or wanting to stop somewhere. This would also be a good time to go ahead and put a very thin layer of grease on the smooth rods to grease the bearings.

If you freshly reboot the machine (via power switch or the reset button) before doing any homing, can you go to Settings > move axis > X Axis and move it manually across the entire axis? (It may limit you to where the head is when first booted, try gently moving the head fully to either side before turning the machine on).

I think I know, I don’t think I know. I don’t think I think I know, I don’t think I think.
