Bondtech Extruder Question

I'm about to fit a Bondtech Heatbreak and am considering a Bondtech Extruder.    Can the needed extruder comands (M92 E415 ) be added to the comands that I will need to run on startup for the heatbreak.    I plan on running the extruder comands via the .gcode file on a USB stick each time I turn the printer on.

RE: Bondtech Extruder Question

Not sure I understand,  but I have two Bondtechs and I insert commands through the slicer and USB thumb drive.

By using Notepad, write:

M92 E415 ; for Bondtech extruder
M301 P13.54 I0.98 D46.58 ; for Bondtech heatbreak
M117 Bondtech loaded ; to display the message on Mini
M73 P100 R0 ; to display process finished

-save the file and change suffix from txt to gcode (i.e. to Bondtech.gcode).
If you don't have Bondtech extruder, then you obviously don't write the first line.

Exactly what I needed to know.  Thanks....

WHy not add it to the startup gc0de in Prusaslicer? That's how I do it. No need to run any separate script from the USB stick.

Speaking for me, loading g-code after power on is simply more practical in every way. For example, what if you decide to change filament (color) just before printing? Or you wish to make (check) first layer calibration before printing?
Of course, everyone should decide for solution which serves his workflow best.

However, the only "right" solution is, by using custom firmware with Bondtech data implemented and forget the hassle -which is what I did.

Another option:

I have adjusted the firmware accordingly. With this I am completely independent of the slicer or external gcode and so I don't worry about it anymore. Do modification is easy, but you lose warranty rights on the buddyboard.

I've fitted the Bondtech Heatbreak and run a series ot test prints, and I'm very happy with the reuslts.   The necessary gcode file is installed on a USB stick that I will run on each startup.    Thanks for the input and advice.

Unfortunately I posted the wrong heading for the thread and it should have been "Bondtech Heatbreak Question"  and not "Bondtech Extruder Question"   Sorry for any confusion.

Glad you made it working nice for you. Yes, I think heat-break is a very necessary upgrade to avoid/reduce troubles in future. I'm surprised Prusa is refusing to recognize that and still stubborn insists with original solution.

While this topic is still alive, what do the gcode commands  "M301 P13.54 I0.98 D46.58"  actually do?

I think the correct wording is that it is needed for some owners.  I have more 5-Mini printers and only two have this heat break.  One has a V6 setup.  The other two work fine with the stock heartbreak.  They have not been replaced and work fine.

Agreed. I have a couple of Bondtech heat breaks sitting in the drawer which I bought just in case but I was printing happily with the stock heartbreaks. Now I've installed the Dragon hotend on one of the Minis, not that I was unhappy with the Prusa heartbreak but because it makes nozzle changes a tad easier.
