How to turn on/off ironing and set parameters in SuperSlicer 2.2.53?

Hi, in PS 2.3, under Print Settings->Infill, we can turn on/off Ironing, set the Flow rate and Ironing Type. Where are these options in Super Slicer?

In SuperSlicer 2.2.53, under Print Settings->Infill. These options are not available. Instead, there is an Advanced Infill->Ironing tuning->Width and Distribution. Anybody knows what they are?

RE: How to turn on/off ironing and set parameters in SuperSlicer 2.2.53?

Super Slicer implemented ironing before PS did in 2.3.  In the older versions of SuSie you had to select  Print Settings>Infill>Infill settings and select type 'ironing' from the drop down for External patterns for it to actually use it.  It then has settings for Width and Distribution also on that page where you could adjust how the iron was done.  Those settings have detailed tool tips so please read them.
This is the same up to version 2.2.54.2.  This ironing is NOT the same as what PS is using now.  As I mentioned, it predates that.

Later versions of SuSie that are based on PS 2.3, so any of the 2.3.5x versions actually has both versions.  So you can select iron as an infill type for Top and bottom surfaces and it uses the old SuSie way of doing it or you can enable the Ironing post process which is done after the top infill which is basically the Prusa way of doing it.

The Susie old method can also be applied to the top of support surfaces which is something the PS method cant do.  It also opens up other options which could be good or bad depending.  You could actually iron a top surface twice, as you could set the top infill to ironing and use the old way and also set the ironing post process to use the Prusa method.  I don't think anyone has tried it and given how either of the methods can have problems with clogging extruders unless set up perfectly on a model per model basis I suspect it wouldn't end well.

You are perfectly welcome to try though.  Please report back if you do, with either your triumphant success, or your more likely dismal failure.

Thanks. I have not heard of SuSie. Where can I download it? Google does not show it.

SuSie = SuperSlicer.  Its the developers preferred short name for it as SS has other rather more ominous unintended associations.

@neophyl

Thanks. Where to download the latest beta/alpha version? I got 2.2.53 stable from their gihub page. It was released last November so a bit outdated.

Go to the download page where you got the stable version from and then you should see a bit above that 'Releases' in blue and next to it a'Tags'.  Click on the tags and it takes you to a different page.  That page will have pre releases on that can be downloaded.  They WILL have bugs in them though.  When PS 2.3 was released they changed a lot of underlying code, which Merill is having to go through and alter his changes to work with.  This is taking a long time.  It wasn't helped by the fact that his computer was down of the christmas holiday period I think.
