I ordered 13th, I realistically expect to be in queue until January. Which is fine with me right now as I will be visiting family and stuff, but I feel for people who want it under the tree or just want to poke and prod it while they have free time during holidays.

First day meaning in the first 24h from announcement or on 12th?

I sure hope so.

This does not give me so much confidence, seems like more delays are coming up.

Now:

A buffer of orders from the announcement day only is too large - those are the orders to be shipped still in 2019 and early January 2020.

Josef a week ago:

We aim to ship the orders from the first day before the years end.

Blog:

We estimate the first batch of MINIs should start shipping on December 9th. The first batch is actually several hundred printers, not just a couple of units, so we won’t be able to send them within one day, of course. We aim to ship orders made during the first 24 hours after the announcement before the winter holidays.

Considering that throughout most of November, the message was

"buffer of orders from the announcement weekend"
which then eroded to 24h, then erdoded to orders made on the day (from 15:00h?), and then even some (all?) of them will be shipped in January only. What does that mean for the rest of the orders placed on the announcement weekend? February? At the same time, this is quite a significant blow to customer's expectations. Things can go wrong, but this sneaky communication to lower the expectations leaves a funny taste.

To me, the cause of the delay is unclear; but what I do know is, that if they are not open with it, it's something that destroys more customer trust than their sneaky communication.

Keep in mind - the timezones. Announcement day in Prague (CEST) ended at 6pm in Maryland (EDT). But then, I trust you were already at ERRF at that time...

Unfortunately the wait is too long for me to hold on so i have cancelled my order. I will reorder in the summer when the lead times will hopefully be shorter. I wish you all good luck and swift deliveries with your Minis!

@bodo

I had ordered it at 5pm.  According to the Google Spreadsheet, I’m at the tail end of orders for the 12th.

That is unfortunate.  I'd history repeats itself, it will be until July to September until the rush and waits list.  That is if my memory serves me well.

Hi guys,

I just added my actual order time on the first day in CET into the spreadsheet, so that you may relate your possible times better (concerning different timezones and such). Every time I see "new mail" in my Prusa folder, my heart skips a beat... only the forum again ... and now I'm doing this to others myself! Hopefully we made it through the day and see some changes on the order status 😀

Best,

Andreas

Well, that's just Prusa. Lots of talking, good PR, but at the end they cannot deliver as promised. Nothing I didn't expect though. Same happened to my MK2 - from 7 weeks waiting time it was 12 weeks.

On the bright side they said it will be before Christmas.. Easter for sure! 😀

@bartosz-j

Got to disagree with your statement 'Good PR',  their PR is terrible.

Their communication with customers (who have paid in full) is almost non existant.

I run my own business and there are always issues, however i have learnt that good communications with affected customers always reduces the impact of my problems on my business (and customer relations). However poor communication with affected customers almost always makes the problems bigger and the impact on my business bigger too.

I am a 'day 2' orderer of a Mini, and i've heard exactly nothing from Prusa, all i see is the beta testers have stopped commenting on (twitter/facebook etc), they have also stopped posting pics of prints on the mini.

I have seen plenty of moaning here on their forum space !!

Cant help thinking there are more issues with the Mini than a few firmware glitches.

I understand (from on here) that Monday (9th) should now see shipping commence ??

I plan to review my own order after the 9th

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

It is highly probable those that were selected as beta testers stopped posting pictures on social media because they delivered their comments, tweaked profiles, and are either waiting for next update to test bugs they reported, or have moved on and put another printer into the spotlight. I would not put huge significance to that.

Honestly I'd not cancel the order now, you are still pretty high up in the queue, it's paid already, so unless you need the money right now I'd just wait. You will get the printer, most probably in January, but it will get to you. It may happen that when you decide you want or need it, you will either fall again into 3-months queue, or will have to wait until I dunno July until delivery time is cut down to few business days.

@crawlerin

Its not the money aspect, in fact i was just about to buy a Mk3S when they announced the Mini and i went for the Mini as it would be easier for a 'newbie' to get into 3D printing.

If i decide to cancel the Mini it will probably be to swap to a MK3S, however i have just seen there is now a delivery delay on the MK3S due to 'Black Friday' orders.

Does sound like Prusa are very poor at business planning and delivery 😀 😀 😀

@steve-4

Yeah, they are pretty slammed right now after Black Friday. I am not optimistic about Mini delivery before Christmas, but maybe we'll get surprised 🙂 If you want to get MK3S, go for it, get a kit, you'll learn a lot assembling it.

@lori-brooks, the Mk3 is a good piece of kit. If it's near you, and the price is fair - get it. It's also assembled already.

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

I did not look far enough to find the spreadsheet but here are my orders.

Oct 12th at ~an hour into errf announcement (payment accepted status)

Oct 13th and it says roughly 1,003 orders difference (on backorder status)  my bank declined this order originally from the 12th for fraud prevention, so I was not able to place it again until the 13th.  🙄

I have backed a few printers via Kickstarter, they ended up junk or horrible customer service debacles.

My first two MK2 kits were 6-week waits, which I then thought was short. Mmu was 5-months I think.  Had a few other brands that took years to get.  My FlashForge machines only took a few days, but then weeks and weeks of tuning. Ha ha
