RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!

I have done some things that offered webspace to partnered parties for their projects. We made it clear in no uncertain terms that we would allow them to install wordpress, for good reason.

Ah - the 'did he mean' would or would dilemma ... 😌 and why edit time should be longer for old farts like me.

RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!

Just noticed an issue where the main (English) forum listing is apparently not updating correctly to show the latest posts.

The top half of the attached image is a screen shot showing the MMU2 section with the "latest" post info highlighted. The bottom portion is what I see when I go into the MMU2 forum (multiple more recent newer posts are shown for the sub-forums).

I tried re-loading with and without cache, but the top level continues to show out dated info.

We need a mark all post as read button - it disappeared in the last update.

RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!

I noticed that I got a couple of PMs from users in the old forum right before the switchover which i could not read because of the switch downtime  and they are not accessible anymore.  I do not know if those members were telling me to go away and die, or that I am a nice person and they enjoy my posts.😮🙂.    I have to know!!!! 🤣

Seriously, if anyone has or can find a manual on inserting images and pics in the forum, that would be very helpful to have for reference.

Finally, given how awesome all of the Prusa documentation and manuals are for the printers, I am sure the speedbumps from this forum switch are related to the fact that Prusa makes printers and not websites! 🍺

Strange women, laying in ponds, distributing swords, is hardly a basis for a system of governance!

We are witnessing a group of hardware/software guys inexperienced in business doing the death spiral of believing a pretty sales pitch.  But it isn't surprising when you recall the many fiascos they've made for themselves in the past.  Are they really shipping the textured plates yet?  Are MMU's actually working for 50% of the customers that have purchased them?  And how many owners are happy that a 3 day order turned into several months of wait - AFTER Prusa sucked in their money?

So since I have forgotten my password I was unable to enter my account here for awhile.

The "reset password" thing tells you you have been sent an email to reset but it doesn't send anything.

Only now somehow I managed to enter into my account.

Not sure how tho...

If you are like me, you missed the explanation on the forum's home page (which few people would go to as it's where all the different languages are listed). You have to register again with your email address (and a, possibly new, password.) The forum then matches you to the user with the same email in the old forum. (This is a security nightmare, though, as anyone can sign up using the email from an old forum user's account, if they know it.)

I've been participating in and/or running online forums since the mid-1970s. I thought I had seen some terrible implementations, but this one is far worse than any.

I see - that explains it, man that's a bad system change if I ever seen one.

The whole change seems largely unnecessary - it's still a forum, except now older topics seem to have lost their images.

And once you've gotten to log in - if you use Chrome's Password management, don't be surprised if you have to clear ALL saved Prusa passwords and reinvent them. And get used to logging in via a new tab, then going back and refreshing the last tab to actually reply to posts; unless of course you read Czech, and like trying to get back to where you were reading before logging in.

Also, the preview post button is gone, external image links didn't work for me.

Whoever made this "update" to the forum should pour ashes on their head as did failed Roman commanders.

While I agree that the post re-login landing spot going to a language I can't read is annoying, you can simply use the back button to get back to the page you were on and all is well.

Still a hell of a lot better (in my opinion) than the old site where I had to go all the way back to the shop and click the forum link because it would never let me login on the forum directly...

How does the file attachment work? Although I uploaded some files in a different thread, there is no download lik anywhere visible.

Furthermore, although I am logged in either with my PC and with my android mobile I only see those black speech bubbles but not only one orange ones which should indicate new posts. This forum for me is just not as convenient as the old one.

Or am I missing something here?

One more thing. I personaly don´t think different language sections are such a good idea.

English is the world language (between others) and should be the language here.

And although German also is offered, there is not much activity there, in other languages

I don´t speak at all one might miss important informations...

... This forum is wasted space by comparison to the old version. Just my opinion.

To attach a file, like an STL: use the [Choose File] button, then when you press [Add Reply] to post the message, the file is uploaded and accessible. ZIP and I presume other formats will not open properly from the browser, e.g., ZIP open as binary files. But an image attached that way will show by filename and hotlink, and if clicked the link will open the image. Or, if you are fast enough, you can copy the image link, then reopen the post as Edit, use the Add Image icon to insert the image in-line.  But you only have a minute or two before the post is no longer editable.

There is no search feature on forum, and forum is not indexed by google. E.g. site:forum.prusa3d.com returns empty result!

  • I don't see a way (without replying) to subscribe to a thread.

There is a button on top of the thread to do that.

Another problem is that I get an email for every individual reply to a topic now, even if I didn't visit the forum in the meantime. This clutters my mailbox.

Completely missed that. Thanks!

Yeah I agree about the emails (and I didn't see anything in my profile to change notification prefs), but I figured I used up my complaint quota for the day 😉 😀

The old notification alerts at the top of the page was a good solution IMHO.

My sentiments exactly.  I'd like to get the notification about new posts on subscribed topics in the header of the forum, but turn off the emails.  As it stands, if I were to set up my email client to block or remove the forum notifications from my main in-box, I won't see any forum notification at all because they're not up there in the header.  Also, with the former forum software, I would be automatically "subscribed" to any topic where I posted; on this forum I have to explicitly subscribe - that's not a big deal, but I don't think this new method is really an improvement.

When uploading images, most users are not selecting the option to link the post image to the actual full size image, resulting in useless pics in the post.  While I like a consistent size image in posts, not being able to see the original is a problem.

The forum needs to default to linking the post to the uploaded full res image.

as a (clunky) workaround if you copy the image URL in the post, you will see it has a size suffix, e.g. <imagefilename>-320x240.jpg

Editing it out to just <imagefilename>.jpg will net you the full size image.

RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!

Forum headers are giving incorrect Latest Post info that is quite confusing.  At an upper level, the latest post is listed as three days ago; yet in the next sub level posts as recent as a few minutes old are shown. 😶

Once there was a decoder ring for the various icons/colors/states of the little page icon/pin icon upper left of posts.  Anyone able to retell what that decoder was, or if there is current meaning to the red, black, white page icons?

RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!

I really miss the old forums way of presenting new posts.  It is very difficult to find new posts with unanswered questions.  Perhaps I am missing something obvious, but Recent Posts isn't helping.
