Prusa Mini One Year old!

My lovely, long awaited, Prusa Mini was delivered in the first week of the UK national lockdown. Without that little printer my life would have been very different during the tediously slow progressing months of the pandemic. The printer has been used daily and has performed fantastically. First printing was problematic – as so many other users have detailed. However, after reseating the hot end it just simply worked. Six months later, after printing a load in ASA, I had to replace the PFTE tube in the heatbreak. I do have the new PINDA sensor, BONTECH heatbreak and a whole set of original replacement parts for the Mini – ordered just to make sure I could continue printing – but never installed a single piece of new hardware. Why fix it if it works?

From various brands of PLA to Prusament PETG and ASA – it simply works.

My best tips for using the Prusa Mini: (a) Wash the print plate with washing up liquid and hot water prior to printing. I use paper towels for both the washing and drying. (b) Start printing at a speed of a slower 75 or even 50 before cranking it up also helps with first layer adhesion.

Amazing little machine Prusa!

RE: Prusa Mini One Year old!

2 months to a full year user.

Pinda, I got the original (5/2020) and I got always nice first layers (bedroom temperatures, cca 18'C+).

Also washing the sheets with water + solid soap and paper towel  on weekly basis. And with paper-towel whenever I touched or have feeling I touched the bed surface.

I think, Prusa will have to change the concept/parts on the hotend on next bigger upgrade of Mini. Cause mostly it is the PFTE tube in the chamber doing the problems together with the not so good heatbreak design. Bondtech heatbreak fixed it which I think is more needed as the replacement of the extruder. Cause filament when cannot be pushed into the hotend (is blocked, not so hot or reistst), it get clickings on extruder.

So......... having a spare moment I treated the Mini with an upgrade to the new PINDA. It does make a massive difference! Highly recommended.......
