Is the Prusa Mini worth it?

I'm looking to get the Prusa Mini but I've heard of issues due to it being a new product so I'm a bit hesitant. Are there anything that might pose a problem with the Prusa Mini that I should be aware of if I get it? How long would you say it took to open the box and get started with a successful print?

Mini isn't really that new product anymore and so, you can't expect some "unsolved" issues. Now, if you're buying your first 3D printer, then yes, you can expect "troubles" -but that is mostly a learning curve and will happen with every printer you buy. That is, never trust those who say "works out of the box" -that's usually true only for those who already have certain experience.

With Mini, it depends if you get kit or pre-assembled. I recommend you go for pre-assembled -in this case you can start printing within 2-3 hours (don't try to break time record with assembling). And here's where I think Mini makes a difference compared to some cheaper printers: if you do it right, your first print will be as good as possible. Yes, you will need to make certain settings (adjustings-calibrations), but less confusing (for beginner) than with some other printers.

I recommend you read this forum a bit, just so you get an impression of what "troubles" to expect -and you'll see most are solved. And if you have particular questions, just ask.

As @bogdanh mentioned: You can have problems with any printer, no matter what price range. I think that the majority of users will have small or no problems with the Mini or MKx series, just as they will with other devices. The teething troubles of the Mini can be found in detail in the forum posts.
For me, Prusa's good support would be a definitive buying decision (I'm not a Prusa employee).

RE: Is the Prusa Mini worth it?

I would say the most important thing to "try" in order to avoid the most common ( i think)  issue in the forum, clogs, is to check and re-seat the heatbreak in the hotend.

I did that, loosend the grubscrews, pushed on the heatbreak and re-tightend the grubscrews. Haven't had a clog yet. Granted, i'm printing mostly petg and abs-like filaments.

The mini replaced my delta-printer for higher-temp materials. I bought mine as a kit, and took a few hours a night for a week to put it together.

Read the assembly manuel start-to-finish once before starting, then each chapter as you go.
