Filament Sensor - Good News

Woke up to a nice surprise this morning. I started a print with what I thought was plenty of filament. Unfortunately, I misjudged and at some point over night, the filament ran out. The good news is that the printer was sitting there with the print head in the back right corner of the build plate waiting for me to change the filament. The swap was flawless and the print continued. Glad I got the filament sensor!

Just thought I would share 🙂

You must be on a more recent version of firmware, because this was not always so 😀

Glad to know it works reliably now.

Out of interest, did it purge some filament before continuing? and what was the join like where it restarted?

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

I'm running 4.02. Yes, it purged and asked if the color was correct. The join looks good from a print quality point of view.  No apparent aritifacts from the swap. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same filament brand (both rolls were silver), so the color is slightly different.

4.02, I take it this is the mini, just noticed it is in the mini thread, I just looked in Recent Posts and replied, but even so, it's good news for other mini owners that this works so seamlessly.
