@mreitsma

That is a short nice guide to UI design.
Years ago, when I did a lot of Windows GUI design, I used the "THE WINDOWS INTERFACE" from Microsoft Press as it covers all elements of a consistent well defined UI experience. It is properly outdated, but most of the elements is still very valid and used all over.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Anyone using this firmware with Octoprint or Astroprint/Astrobox yet?  If you set a color change at a layer, does the user interface come back on the display panel to let you load and purge the nw color, or does it stay locked on the octopus?

Is there anything in the new firmware that might cause layer shifts on the Y axis? I've been using my Mini since Christmas, mostly without problems. After installing the 4.0.5 RC1 I suddenly had several prints like that in the attached picture. It's not the model. A single one of those prints fine.

I would rule out the obvious first.. check the grub screw on the motor shaft... its might just be a coincidnece that this happened when you upgraded to 4.0.5

@jweaver

Screw was ok, but the hint regarding the obvious was a good one. Apparently one of the steel shafts was in need of lubricant at one end. Not sure why this hadn't surfaced earlier. Maybe I've not been printing large models or full plates recently. But with two failures in a row after upgrading to a firmware that is supposed to fix movement issues the firmware seemed to be the obvious suspect to me. 😉 Thanks!

@zxprinter

I see that you already figured it out, but I wanted to mention that I had the same problem a short time ago.

https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/hardware-firmware-and-software-help/y-axis-started-sticking/

I had to disassemble mine in order to lube and rotate the bearings to get them to stop sticking.

Warning: minor complaint.

Is anybody annoyed by the fact that the usb drive icon up top is pointing towards the right, instead of the left like it does on the actual machine?

End of the minor complaint.

No, I am much more annoyed by the fact that the only USB drive that is functioning on the MINI is the one delivered with the MINI -- other drives work but you have to power cycle the Mini... (yes I have updated the issue on Github)

Could be... that would explain it as mine are USB2.

imam using this as an opportunity to recycle a bunch of old, small sticks.. dont you have any old USB2 sticks spare?

maybe somewhere, when I bought a bunch of USB3 drives I threw all the old ones in the bin -- it is worth the try if this is the issue (maybe I can lend a old USB drive from a neighbor)

This is exactly why I throw NOTHING away.> You never know when you will get a hobby/project which will need something like this.. I am using a bynch of old 256MB "corporate gift" sticks that I acquired decades ago...

I just keep a pile near my PC and gradually move them back and forth to the printer..

I would also check what format the USB drives are, they can be formatted different ways and with different sector sizes.  On one of our embedded devices at work we had issues too and that rather than USB2/3 makes the difference to them working or not.  It depends on what embedded driver the Buddy board firmware is using as to what types it will work with.

If I remember correctly, it only accepts FAT32 formats.

@geoper2

I would think it has been unpinned as it is about the release candidate for 4.0.5, there is a new pinned thread about the final release.
