Waiting with bated breath.....

Well, tried to order some parts and ...... guess what?

We can't buy anything for shipment to the U.K. just now! Now waiting to see what the hike in prices is going to be.

Part of the reason for the temporary stop on shipping was the carriers stopped ground shipping due to the problems when the French closed the ports. I don't believe Prusa will increase their price, but shipping will probably increase to to the extra paperwork as well as any duty or other fees incurred as a result of the end of the transition period.

@gordon-w

Bit odd then that the website has changed and won't accept a U.K. postcode format ?  Also, all prices are displayed in Euro and Dollars only ?

will wait and see as said .....

RE: Waiting with bated breath.....

My understanding is that HMRC have, under cover of Brexit, made a wholesale change to the way VAT is collected on orders sent to the UK from the rest of the world.

Whereas previously the VAT on individual items bought from an online shop would have been collected at the point of import, typically a surcharge levied by the carrier on the basis of the seller's customs declaration, HMRC have now shifted the responsibility for the collection of any VAT, and the administration for this, to the sellers, wherever they are in the world. So a company like Prusa, who might want to sell online to UK customers, must now register with HMRC, effectively as if they were a UK company, calculate the correct VAT to charge on the various items they're selling, and take responsibility for administrating the collection and payment of this VAT to the UK government on behalf of HMRC. And that's not to mention the additional 2.5% Customs Duty that we'll probably also have to pay now on orders valued at more than £135...

Hopefully Prusa will feel that the number of customers they have in the UK make this additional administrative burden worthwhile, but I fear that the price we pay will likely go up substantially to cover the extra costs. Unfortunately there are some other online retailers who have now decided to stop selling to the UK due to the administrative costs now involved. 😟
