RE: Should I Buy a Prusa?

Sellers like to show on the receipt or on ivoice the price without and with VAT, they show you their price is not so high, but the governments takes significant money out of that to pay a large buerocracy institutions 😆

Tax? Tax? What is this thing called Tax?

Here in Oregon, we have no sales tax, VAT, or any other kind of tax on transactions. Shelf price is all we pay.

Now California - that is a different story.

Robert you are happy man either in Oregon none of the government (central or local) employees asks for salary or you do not have any government at all.

Both cases are super. 😆 or you are just not aware of the taxes.

Oregon gets us on property and income taxes. I found it a decent place to retire on no working income.

I guess I'll buy the kit. I'll wait one more week to see if there is Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal.

Do most buy both plates, isn't the difference only between a smooth or textured bottom? If I get both plates and the .25 & .6 nozzles I'll be at $808.62

If you decide to only get steel sheet and you will mostly print PLA then definitely get the smooth sheet. It seems that it's more tricky to get PLA to stick to the textured sheet.  If you will mostly print PETG then you should get the textured.

RE: Should I Buy a Prusa?

I had never issue with PLA sticking to textured sheet. Yes, maybe it is not so strong, but always strong enough if the sheet is clear. I let the print to cool down and in couple of minutes the print hops out of the sheet automaticaly. From PEI sheet I always need to take off the printer and band a bit. Also not issue, but then I have the finger prints on the plate. So I recommend textured for where ever it is possible. Sometimes I need a smooth surface. So take both 🙂

I manage to flex the sheets by holding the edges and pressing my thumbs only on the back unused side of the sheet.  No prints at all.  But when I get lazy and remove parts from the top side, I will inadvertently make contact somewhere... sigh. Even my plastic razor blade seems to leave finger prints because I don't always pick it up by the handle.

RE: Should I Buy a Prusa?

New to Prusa, im being pulled in by the Prusa Mini+ im currently using a MP Select Mini V2 and i want something a to give me better prints and faster I hope this Prusa mini is better than what I got now. I hear good and bad about Prusa, honestly is it worth putting my money into the brand, im in Canada so shipping it out and import TAX its going to cost double of what I can buy locally for the same size printer (will not be a Prusa as I can't get them locally.... yes I checked Voxel they will not be selling the Mini+)

Do you think the Mini+ is mature enough yet, I guess we have the + model so some things have changed / fixed.

Im thinking of ordering the Mini+ this week.

Also to maximize my order what extras should I include as its very costly to get this stuff to Canada, I want to try and do it in one order. Do I need any spares to add to my printer order. like extra build plate etc. Im going to order the printer with the filament sensor and maybe both build sheets anyway. Any other parts I should add?

I am not a Mini user, but have noticed a number of posts relating to the Ferrules for the PTFE Bowden tube

and the Extruder PTFE Tube

You might want to consider the Silk finish spring steel build plate, but at this time, I cannot find a link on the spares page.

Looks like I can't add any extra parts "Spare parts purchase is limited to Original Prusa 3D printer owners only. Please log in to your Prusa Account with your printer order to purchase any spare parts. In case you bought your Original Prusa 3D printer elsewhere please contact our support."

So it looks like I would need to buy the printer then I can order parts 🙁
