Prusa slicer on raspberry pi 4 (4GB)

I was surprised that I was able to build the latest alpha versio on a raspberry pi 4 wth 4GB or ram and 2GB of swap.  I want to congratulate the designers on just how comparetively easy the build is compared to most large projects on a migration to raspberry Pi.

I have not run it much, but initial feel is surprise at how well it runs. As expected don't try spinning the graphics too much as that is slow, but for normal usage speed sees quite acceptable!

Congratulations

I am glad it is working well for you, but for backend processing (modelling, slicing) I will always use a PC.

I am too hooked on all the PC amenities, like big monitors, high end graphic cards, and fast disks.

I very much like my Pi 4 with a Pi display as a portable web browser. It works great showing what my Pi 3 OctoPrint is up to.

Starts print jobs, modifies print settings.

@robert-rmm200

I have so many devices I work with, and also changing devices, so I need one constant place to go to and maintain my configs. A raspberry pi4 runs my Arduino and prusaslicer, so I can compile my firmware there. It is powerful enough for simple slicing and uploading to repertier server. I can do that from every place on the world, as my raspberry pi4 is accessible over the internet.

Long time ago I opened a topic "Installation of PrusaSlicer 2.0 on a RaspberryPi" in "General Discussion, announcements and releases" so I am very interested in your topic. As I am not too familiar with Linux and not beeing able to compile / build my own software version - is it possible to download your build with a short description of how to?

I can understand that you might do this just because you can but other than that why would you? This a genuine question, not being rhetorical.

I just purchased the

Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 2019 Quad Core 64 Bit WiFi Bluetooth (4GB)

I want to communicate through the serial port of the printer.
