Problem with apparent offset in printing top for threaded box

I have made a nice threaded box with external threads on the box body.  The cap has internal threads obviously.  For the lid to fit the box the bottom part of the side of the lid needs to be thinner than the upper part.  I merely drew a circle in my sketch and extruded it to create the relief so the lid would screw onto the box.  It works fine except that the outside of the lid now has a lip on it where the lid has been thinned to clear the body of the box.  Any ideas why this is happening?

Post pictures. Without that we can only guess as to the issue you're trying to describe.

wonderful idea but when i posted the post there did not seem to be a place to add photos.  I have attached here.  I have marked the affected area in black as it is otherwise nearly impossible to see in a photo .  I have printed lids where the thread length of the lid is the same as height of the lid but in this case the internal threads are not full length as I wanted the height of the lid to be greater than the thread height.  That is where the problem arose
