Print quality issue after 50 or so layers...

Hey guys,

I just printed this spiral model, and the quality is fine for the first 50 or so layers, then goes to crap.

What gives? Its certainly the tallest thing I've ever printed, but I've had no issues anything like this previously...

Layer height is 0.2mm... Nozzle 0.4mm. Extrusion width 0.45mm. I'm not sure what other settings are relevant.

Notice though from the video, it looks almost as if the nozzle hasn't lifted far enough. The model was visibly jarring as it printed when the nozzle moved between the legs (You can see this slightly in the video)

P.s the only thing I've changed is moving to Octoprint to print stuff, from direct from GCODE files on an SD Card.

Is it possible that Octoprint could change print quality like this?

That model consists of moderate/high overhangs when it gets further up.  That means those edges have a tendency to curl upwards due to the cooling.  This also means when it gets back to that pillar on the next pass it has to bump over the raised areas and the heat has to try and iron them back down.  This is cumulative so gets worse and worse.  If your bed adhesion is not spot on its those sorts of conditions that will result in a part being knocked loose and then spaghetti time, or worse a blob o'doom.

Also looking at the model I would check if you have solid infill left at the default of 70 mm/2.  If it is then I would set it to 0 to turn it off as doing that solid will be pumping a lot more hot plastic into a small area.

If you save your project as a 3mf (File > Save as) and then take the 3mf file, zip it up and attach it we can take a look at the slice preview and look for anything else out of place.  Must be zipped up as the forum doesnt accept many file types.

I have thought it possible that Octoprint could change print quality myself though have never tested it.

I printed My MPCNC all in ABS though One Print was printed using Octoprint > OctoLapse - was the reason I wanted to Record a time Lapse.

Left Model was printed with OctoPrint > OctoLapse Right Was Printed from SD Card.

Note the Texture of the Left Burly
