MMU2S Buffer.

Hello,

I am a bit confused about the buffer. Is it included with the MMU2S kit? Is it better to install it or not?

Yes.  It's in the kit.

It works reasonably well but it takes up a lot of space.  The MMU needs to have a straight filament path and the buffer plus the filament holders add over a metre to the worshop space needed.

Most of the rewind spool systems are trying to recover some of that space.  The only one that seems, generally, to be regarded as better is to have all spools on a shelf high above the printer and no buffer.  With a medium height shelf you can install the buffer vertically, if the only shelf is too low for that then a shelf of rewind spools is worth considering.

Cheerio,

RE: MMU2S Buffer.

Lately when doing multi-color work with the MMU2S, I've been taking it out of the enclosure, setting it on the spare bedroom floor with two (or three) spools maybe six feet behind it on the MMU2S spool holders and using the floor space as a buffer.  For me, this is more of a sure thing than futzing around with the machine in the enclosure and the buffer and the spools in its normal place.
