Mk2 and spring steel sheet

Hey guys, I was gifted a spring steel sheet (generic amazon brand) for my birthday and was wondering if I can use it on my Mk2 i3?

This is the item:

I didn't know I was going to receive it, so I would have bought one from Prusa directly if I'd have known.

So far, I haven't been able to dig up much information on the subject. I put the spring steel on the original bed to see if it will fit ( it seems a little big (few mm too big).I haven't tried running any calibrations yet, I am afraid the nozzle will contact the sheet and damage it. It measures almost 1mm thick.

Has anyone used a generic sheet on their mk2 before?

RE: Mk2 and spring steel sheet

DONT FORGET TO RESET LIVE Z to ZERO, before doing these upgrades....

I have used a Prusa Sheet with Swiss Clips, on a Mk42 heatbed, on a Mk2
I had to put the sheet on, back to front, because my sheet was an early one with a large cutout on the rear,
I used two Swiss Clips at the rear, and one each side, at the front. It was a bit fiddly, but it worked
then I bought a Mk52 12 volt heatbed and fitted that instead.

Unfortunately the Mk52 12 volt XYZ sense points are in different positions so Mk2 Firmware cannot find some of them...
But my printer was previously calibrated OK, so I didn't worry!

I have recently heard of other users sticking a self adhesive magnetic pad onto the face of the mk42 heatbed, and using that to hold the build plate down, they also report success.
but that will also mess with the XYZ Calibration capability....   but I guess you could remove the magnetic sheet, if you desperately needed to do XYZ calibration, in the future

Don't forget to re adjust Live Z for the new Sheet!

Happy Printing,
NOTE!!! the 24 volt Mk52 Heatbed, WILL NOT FIT the Mk2 Y axis Carriage!  7 of the 9 mounting screws are in the wrong places...

I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK...
