JIRA Account created by Prusa Team

Hi,

can anyone tell me why someone (Nikolai Zvetnet) created a JIRA Account with my email address without asking?

In addition i have even no clue what JIRA is.

Can someone help me on that.

Thanks

Raphael

Jira

I don't know what you may have been asking about, but my guess would be there's a connection... :geek:

I got an invite too. Jira is an issue tracker tool.

You can Google it to see what it is...

I'm wondering if maybe the list of people on this forum were purposely or accidentally invited.

A few people in the Prusa groups on Facebook have also received an invite.

yes its a bug tracking tool, but the thing is why is someone of the prusa team creating an account with my email address without asking in advance.

In my opinion it is not OK to use email addresses of customers to register them for services they might not need them or even not interested in.

thanks

I've forwarded this on to the Prusa team and am waiting for a response.

if It is just an invite, you can ignore the invitation and not sign up if you do not want it. Of course - it is still a concern that there wasn't discussion or some other preamble before this was done as we probably have the right to refuse our email even being entered into this 3rd party's systems.

We use the Atlassian suite at our company and the Software developers use JIRA for bug tracking. Our code repository is Bitbucket (comparable to Github). It is really good software; I only use Bitbucket and Confluence. I don't use JIRA because I am not a developer.

There is a post on one of the FB PRUSA groups from a PRUSA employee who linked the wrong list when he was moving PRUSA employee to their new tracking software. He estimated about 10% of users may have received this incorrect invite and apologised for his error.

On the other hand, being the fly on the wall during Prusa internal discussions might be interesting...

Re: JIRA Account created by Prusa Team

Here is the post I made on Facebook. Once again, I am very sorry for the trouble that this caused. I would have posted here first, but had issues logging in to the forums.

Sorry all, this was my doing. I've been tasked with merging our unwieldy spreadsheet archives for support cases into a new system we are developing.

Fully tested it last week, but it seems <10% of the accounts added to the new system during an ~3 hour period yesterday morning were randomly sent a false invite link.

This new system will vastly improve our ability to document cases, prevent repeated work, and allow us to provide better quality support service to our customers. We are really excited for its potential to make everyone's experience (including ours) a little bit easier when it comes to getting troubleshooting help, replacement parts, or servicing.

Nothing to worry about, I'm working on making sure we can proceed without sending out any more unsolicited emails.

I am sure this unsolicited email is better than getting one about your relative that is asking for help and is will share the riches he acquired as a Nigerian prince.
