Installation of PrusaSlicer 2.0 on a RaspberryPi

High all,

is there a way for a person not too familiar with linux to get PrusaSlicer 2.0 installed on a RaspberryPi 3B+. Speed is not a real issue for me, but I use my Raspberries as desktop computers with very little power consumption and I would be very happy being able to use PrusaSlicer 2.0 on that small computer.

Best regards,

Clemens

Hi Clemens,

There are no offical precompiled releases for ARM. Even if you would compile it, 1GB ram is not really enough for that.

I'm wandering why/how a person not too familiar with linux is using Raspi as a desktop computer 🙂

The 4GB Pi4 might be a target if anyone wants to give it a whirl. Might even be able to run Plicer and Octoprint on the same Pi4, Have all the 3D printer stuff in one device.

The issue might be dependencies... I remember there was some talk a while ago about trying to compile KiCad for Pi3, and one of the biggest sticking issues was OpenGL. There is OpenGL on rasbpian, but at the time it was the limited OpenGL ES and KiCad was written for full OpenGL. I don't know if Plicer can compile against OpenGL ES, or if the Buster Raspbian has full OpenGL.

(KiCad is an opensource EDA suite, think Eagle without the hobby limits.)

The appearance of the RaspberryPi 4 with 4GB RAM was the reason for the question. I heard that something in direction OPENGL was changed in the newest version of Raspbian - so I hope im might become possible to build a package for the RaspberryPi.

I love to see it on a Pi.

Especially if there is enough headroom to run PrusaSlicer AND  OctoPi. Seems like it should be do-able.

Somebody managed:

I was able to compile PrusaSlicer 2.0 on an Android E-ink reader running UserLAnd

without difficulties.
