RE: I can't remove the SUPPORT in a specific area

I've had some tricky ones where I had to very carefully pick the supports out using dikes and a hemostat.

I notice you are using .2mm Z distance.  You may want to try .25 or even .3.

Here are the support values (not mine, but I use them) on another thread which appears to be the consensus as a good set of values.

0.25mm z distance.
75% xy distance.
3mm support spacing.
4 interface layers.
0.2mm interface layer spacing.

RE: I can't remove the SUPPORT in a specific area

I would try  re orientating the part,

And then I would put support enforcers up the sides of the chamber that I have hilighted in red, so that the part is supported from falling over but the chamber does not fill with support.
If you do this, the left hand face should be at 45degrees tot he build plate and it should print without additional support, the curve which will go up to the other end of the model should transition through vertical, so no support needed and the main part of the model should be 45degrees the other way, and you only need support because you can't balance the model on the thin edge I have coloured Blue in the picture above.

like this

This is a mock up because I don't have your STL...
I used three support enforcers one for each side, and one for the lip of the box.

RISPONDI: I can't remove the SUPPORT in a specific area

@joantabb

I am doing some tests but the results I get are somewhat disappointing

If I use support everywhere
this is the result

The red points should not be there and the blue points lack support

I created support in fusion360

the result is this and this too is somewhat disappointing

At this point I think PrusaSlicer is an excellent program, but the part that manages the support is still very disappointing so I will experiment with some other slicer

Hi Masspred,

Sorry it took so long, I have had visitors
Please find attached a .3mf file for you to try.
I have set the filament type to ABS as this looks like a printer nozzle.  I hope this is Ok.
regards Joan

@joantabb

I thank you for all the help you are giving me but I think this program is limited with supports

How did your nozzle print?

I don't print  ABS, so I tried PETG.

I Hope yours turned out well!

I would say an excellent result, my printer here fails without a support

RE: I can't remove the SUPPORT in a specific area

Looking at your picture  one of my intended supports seems to have gone missing...

there should have been 4 Support blocks.

the green one above is the same size as the one behind the nozzle, It is copied, rotated 90 degrees and pulled forward so that it just contacts the front edge of the lower openning.

I don't know where it went missing,
try this file

@joantabb

I downloaded the new file sent. I must say that this seems to me an excellent result, today I try it

I decreased the resolution a bit because 4 hours for this object seem too long

I congratulate you and I would like to know which method I must use to create the supports because I have not succeeded

RE: I can't remove the SUPPORT in a specific area

Hi

I don't know what is going on with the 3mf files.

It was supposed to be at 0.2mm layer height...

At least you got your model sorted. 🙂

all I did was to import the model, as supplied,

then I right clicked on the model and chose 'Add Support  Enforcer > Box '

then I resized the box and manouvered it to the position, on the right of the  model,
then I copied and pasted the enforcer, and moved the second enforcer to the left hand side of the model

Next I right clicked on the model and chose 'Add Support  Enforcer > Box '

adding the third enforcer, which I re sized and moved to the rear of the model

then I copied and pasted the third enforcer, and moved the new fourth enforcer to the underside of the model where it faced the oblong opening.
then I clicked on the original model and rotated it 45 degrees, (Which  also rotates the four enforcers to the new angle. )

then in the support menu, I enabled supports, disabled Auto supports and  selected 'support on build plate only'

and sliced the model.
there was a small amount of support showing in the vent areas, so I adjusted the location of the first and second support enabler a tiny bit.  and then resliced to confirm that there was no support inside the vents.

I printed from the 3mf file, and I zipped it for you... but somehow, the layer height ended up at o.o5mm and one of the supports disappeared...

Ah! the excitement of modern software... 🙂

Best wishes, Joan
