Extruder for NinjaFlex TPU

I've managed to print a multicolor TPU print with the stock extruder and MMU with lots of trial and many more errors.
Having only 1 printer means changing filament between PLA, PETG and TPU means the fiddling starts all over for every print.

What characteristics makes a extruder/hotend better in handling TPU than others ?
Is there an absolute best one (MMU possible so Hemera is out) or does it come to personal preference ?
Are there any mods for the stock extruder and MMU to handle TPU better ?

Thanks, Yveske

Smooth spooling and super loose tension screw

Didn't take much fiddling to get a variety of TPU to print.  Just switched from PETG to Ninjaflex TPU, printed a small part, switched back...

The only fiddling is to do the cold pull before loading TPU into your extruder.  Since you need to completely loosen the filament tension screw to do a cold pull, it's not a hardship to slip it back to two threads and then load the TPU.  Ninjaflex is like cooked spaghetti but it loads just fine.  Remember to print it above 230.

Also, the stock prusa spool holder is a challenge with this limp filament - you either have to pre-unspool it (stand there) or load in one of the smooth spooling (bearings) arms.  Glad that my smooth spooler arms fit the prusa arm holder 😉

RE: Extruder for NinjaFlex TPU

My "spaghetti" likes to keep escaping and wrapping itself round the grooved gears either in the extruder and/or MMU.
