Anyone in the Boston area want to split shipping costs?

Hi USA folks, I want to order some stuff from Prusa's store but I hate shipping across the Atlantic.

If you feel the same way, and live in the northeastern part of Massachusetts (or Nashua area of NH), want to go in together on a big order? That way the shipping should be more efficient.

I'm proposing you tell me what you want, I buy it and ship it to me, and then we arrange for you to pick it up or to meet me somewhere and you can pay me back at that time.

If that sounds good, please message me.

(Mods and more experienced folks: if I am doing this wrong and/or am in breach of etiquette, please have mercy on this newbie and enlighten me so I can do better.)

Thank you!

Hmm

Difficult proposition because you have a low number of posts to build trust.  If you two rolls of filament, you might be able to bring those costs down.

What are you ordering? Many spare parts can be ordered from US suppliers, and you've got a Microcenter in Cambridge for filament if you don't require Prusament.

Oh, don't worry, I'm not asking for trust 🙂 I'm fully aware that I am just a stranger on the internet!

In my suggestion, I would take on 100% of the risk. The other person would not pay a single penny until they had their product in hand.

Furthermore, I offered to meet them somewhere to make the exchange, which of course can be a public place for safety. They could bring a friend(s) for backup if they want.

No personal information would need to be exchanged at all. I wouldn't even need to know a real name. And because of COVID, I wouldn't even need to see their whole face, since the mask provides additional anonymity.

So you see, unless there's something about this world I don't understand (it's always possible, haha), I wasn't suggesting anyone expose themselves to any risk whatsoever. No trust is required. Heck, if they're really afraid to meet an Internet Stranger in person, they can arrange some kind of dead drop or third party exchange  or whatever, I don't really care. Whatever makes everyone feel safe.

I'm ordering some filament and some steel sheets. I need the Prusament in order to do some specific diagnostic tests that rely on its exact properties, and I've been told substituting another brand won't give me accurate results for the test.

Thanks for the suggestion of Microcenter! I haven't been there since before desktop 3D printers were a thing, so I still had it in my head that they only sold computers... now I am excited to go shopping! Unfortunately, they don't sell the actual Prusament and steel sheets I want, so I still have to order those.

Shipping

Shipping can be reduced by sticking to two rolls of filament and 1-2 sheets per order.
