For the industrial area on the model railroad.  Generic dumpster print downloaded from one of the 'usual suspect' sites and upscaled to approximate O scale.

Internal electronics are two 'flickering' LEDs, red and yellow, and a 10 ohm power resistor for the smoke unit.  Uses the common MegaSteam smoke fluid.  The flickering LEDs do simulate a roaring flame, but I'm too lazy to do a video.  😉

My attempt at making the power plant smoke resulted in a lot of stink and little visible smoke (I am still working on this) but this one SMOKES!

Pretty cool.  Don't catch it on fire.  In college, we used to do that with couches, but that is another story.

Thanks.

Don't worry.  That thing is going to be on only for about a minute at a time.  It produces smoke fairly quickly.  For the above photo I was running it on a bench supply, about 20VDC and I shot the photo maybe 15 seconds after powering it up.  When it's set up on the layout, I plan on running it on the 20VAC accessory voltage from a Lionel KW transformer, so it should start smoking within 10 seconds or so.

In reference to a comment from 'another network', no, it does not set off the smoke detector.

And, in reference to a previous thread, I just printed a 364c control switch for it in a very appropriate color.  😉

Yes, they do.  There are red and yellow flickering LEDs that flicker asynchronously and look remarkably real.

They come from a 'maker' site called Evil Mad Scientist.
