Real Tree Textures

There is a way to transfer the texture of any tree to a 3D printable object without harming the tree. It is possible to achieve this using just a mobile phone camera, photogrammetry software like Meshroom, and 3D design software like Blender3D for texture cleaning for further editing.

All prints were 3D printed using wood filament on 3 years old upgraded original prusa i3 mk25s

I want to Thank you because I did not know that Meshroom could do that. I downloaded I started to take picture with my cell phone. Then with that program and blender it works you save a lot of money from buying a scanner thanks again.

Thanks 🙂 How do you use these scans? Do you have images I could use for the blog?

So far at least 3 photogrammetry software can deal with this difficult task.

- Meshroom is free, but it is moody sometimes. (but free is free 😋) 50+ images take my PC 3-5 hours to process. 100+ images crush it. (I have to learn to use nods efficiently)

- Autodesk ReCap Photo ( approx. 50$ p/m) - cloud-based - deals with 100+ images like a boss. 12 Cloud credit points per scan. So it is expensive in my honest opinion.

- Metashape (don't know the price) - Andrew Sink published a YouTube video on the subject:
