Where do you send your PPE?

what do you print and where do you send it to, the online places prusa has refereed to or others or do you do send it local?

i am curious because i had emailed a few places with questions regarding if they need the transparent sheets/strap or i can just send them the plastic head part, but they have not gotten back

i may call a few local place and see if they want some, has that worked out for any one?

RE: Where do you send your PPE?

I finally got some answers by joining the Masks for Docs Slack group. Not sure it's still functional, but here's the link:

There you'll find local chapters that can let you know what exactly is needed in your specific region. It varies considerably by area and what's needed.

Lately in the MA area, there's very little demand and I've pretty much idled my printing. I've got 25 full shields (with visor) and 50 Verkstan frames sitting here ready to go when and if needed, but nobody seems to need them. I think a lot of injection molding and large-scale projects are up to speed and filling most of the need, at least for items that I can 3D print.

RE: Where do you send your PPE?

Back in late March, I and a lady from one of the classes I took tried to find people locally who wanted mask pieces printed, as we both had new and mostly-idle 3d printers.  We both got many non-returned voicemails and emails.  My conclusion was that the demand, at least in Omaha, NE, US, was not as great as the talking heads implied.

I think the demand is way down now. Back in March-April, there was a lot of demand in some locations. I pushed out several hundred assembled frames and hand-cut face shields to hospitals and nursing homes. Our local fire department appreciated a batch. No real interest in 3D printed stuff lately.

You might check with some Elder Care facilities also check with Dentists/Orthodontists. I know as part of my Glowforge project when I was dropping off "earsavers" I would often get asked if I was making face shields. I was maxxed out on capacity at that point, so I couldn't help.

I send mine to an elder care facility.

I have been printing and providing it locally to my ERs and Rescue Squads.

RE: Where do you send your PPE?

Nobody locally (Central MA) has been accepting 3D printed PPE since before June, at least last time I checked. The pipeline for "real" PPE seems to be adequate. Even the senior homes that I've queried are no longer interested. I'm glad this is the case at this late date, but it does sound like conditions vary in each region.

@bobstro

In general, yes, but there are pockets that need stuff.  Supply is tightening for some products.

I typically aim to slide it into their dm's.....there's a chance I misunderstood the original post/title/topic.
