What accounts for this?
First 3 layers are ugly, then suddenly the print becomes beautiful without me touching anything. Any ideas?

Your nozzle is too high above the build plate. This is adjusted by setting the z value.
read the first couple of pages of this.

Thanks. Had to go to -0.750 to get perfect print. All good now!
