New Prusa Mini+: stringing then stuck filament in extruder

Hi all,

I just received my new Prusa Mini+!

After a short assembly I tried printing the supplied Benchy. It looked pretty good!

After that, I proceeded with printing Raspberry Pi Camera Mount, using Galaxy Silver PLA Prusament with the default PrusaSlicer settings (215 C nozzle temperature). Stringing was apparent.

I followed the instructions on "Stringing and oozing", made sure "Wipe while retracting enabled" is enabled in PrusaSlicer ("Retract on layer change" was off though). I tried printing another part with 210 C nozzle temperature (as recommended in "Stringing and oozing") and it kept stringing. I printed another part at 207 (which still demonstrated stringing), and towards the end of the print, the printer complained that the filament is depleted (it was not) and extracted the filament.

I tried reloading the filament, but it was stuck and could not be loaded or unloaded. Through the extruder lid I noticed stuck filament:

I tried gently pulling with tweezers upwards and gently pulling the filament out, with no success.

1. What is causing the stringing? Why there was no stringing at all in Benchy?

2. Could the lower temperature cause the filament to get stuck in the extruder? If not, what is?

3. What should I do to extract the stuck filament? Should I follow "How to access and clean the extruder-pulley"?

Although I printed before, this is my first printer, appreciate your help! 🙂

You will have to diassemble the extruder.  It is easy but you do need to remember where the screws go.
