nasty sound when power up

hi there,  everytime I power on the printer one of the fans gives a nasty high sound, and it stops when the mini is fully booted.

I don't know which one, but now this appears, see attached picture.......

can anyone tell me what this is, the printer is only 14 days old

Mine does that too. It's been doing it for months. Doesn't seem to be causing any issues though.

Re: nasty sound

thats true, but if its a bad bearing in one of the fans we will know soon enough. I think the fan spins up in a lot of rpm when booting, before it slow down and finish booting. what about your mini Tracy, do you have this white look on your fan?

Mine started doing that very early on, it never caused any issues and it always settled down quickly. I believe it's the cooling fan running at max RPM.

It's still working just fine a year later!

My mini started doing that about 1 week after I received it. It was the print fan, and replacing it made the printer so much quieter that I thought the fan wasn't on. I took the old print fan off and disassembled it, and there was rust on the insides of it. What is with the white stuff on peoples printers? I've never seen anything like that on mine before, but I keep seeing images that show it.

I think it's residue from thermal paste on the heatbreak. You will always see it on the side the hotend fan blows towards.

@robee-shepherd

I replaced my heatbreak with the Bondtech one and it totally fixed my clogging after using PETG. My PTFE tube shrunk after trying PETG for a 1 hour print, then I switched to PLA and it was thoroughly clogged with a blob of PETG that wouldn't come out no matter the temperature. You're probably correct about the white residue, but never noticed that on mine.
