Filament stuck on bearing in extruder

Anyone seen this before? I couldn't load or unload filament, so I took the extruder apart and found the end was stuck to the bearing. I had to pry it off with an Exacto knife. After doing that, I could pull it out of the filament sensor end.

It almost looked melted, but I'm guessing the gear just ground it enough to stick it to the bearing? Anyone had that happen with their mini?

In your case I would turn to the Prusachat. They might send you spare parts.

I had filament wrapped around extruder gear once, fortunately it did not cause any damage to bearing or plastic parts. I had idler tension set too high. I'd recommend checking yours to avoid similar issue in the future, here's the guide on how to adjust it: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/clogged-nozzle-hotend-mini_112011/

It looks like a really tightened tensioner. After cleaning it try adjusting it while loading and unloading the filament.

I had similar recently when a small piece of filament broke off during unloading.

No permanent damage, just one of those things that can happen. Just make sure you clean the Extruder gear as per step 9

As geoper2 said its also worth checking your tension.
