Filament Sensor not detected

Upon activating my mini, everything was fine until it said it did not detect my filament sensor. I do not see any wiring or connection issues. This was not a kit. I didn't touch the wiring while assembling it. Advice was to install latest firmware, but it's already on 4.3.1

Any advice? I don't see anything about this with a search of the forum.

Ensure the filament sensor is enabled in the settings menu

then check if it works in menu info->sensor info,  1 means filament present. insert and eject the filament to see the proper change of the screen value.

If doesn't change the value probably the center screw in the filament sensor is too tight and it locks the sensor, check that screw. anyway that screw too loose produces an annoying tick.

@turro75

Was the filament sensor supposed to come with my mini?

I guess the reason none of this makes sense to me is that I don't even have one. In the book it says "optional." After looking at the part in the link, I verified that I was not sent a filament sensor at all.

Is this a vital component? My printer isn't working right and this is the only error message I get, so it seems important.
